Hawks Blank Cougars

Hunter grabs second win of the seaon.

BROOKLYN, NY - On Wednesday, October 3rd, the men's soccer team travelled to Brooklyn to take on the Cougars of Medgar Evers.  After a scoreless first half, the men dominated the field scoring 3 goals in the second to get the victory with a 3-0 score.  With the win, the Hawks improve to 2-8-2 while the Cougars drop to 1-7.

Hunter outshot Medgar 14-8, with sophomore Michael Ziegler leading the Hawks with 6 shots total with 4 being on goal.  Junior captain Diego Mercado did an outstanding job of scoring two of the three goals for the Hawks.  The first was at minute 29 on a penalty kick, and the second was assisted by freshman Abmudallah Mayan. 

Freshman Cesar Contreras scored his first goal in his collegiate career at minute 23 assisted by Freshman Sanawullah Shairazi. 

 Keeper junior Emmanuel Aprilakis finished the day with 3 saves.

The Hawks are back on the field on Saturday, October 6th when they travel to Staten Island to take on the Dolphins of CSI in a conference match.
