Women's Tennis Blanks Lightning

Tennis defeats Lehman College 9-0

Junior Shena Joseph won both her doubles and singles matches.

BRONX, NY - On Friday, October 5th the women's tennis team hosted the Lightning of Lehman in a conference match-up.  The women dominated the court, winning all nine matches.  With the win, the Hawks improve to 5-3 while Lehman drops to 5-7. 

In doubles play, Juniors Jane Selegean and Shena Joseph teamed up in the first slot, having the closer match of the day with Lehman's Nelly Blinora and Rav Bhatia, pulling out the match 8-5.  Sophomores Caroline Kaleda and Beth Chapnick downed their opponets 8-3 in the second slot, while sophomore Gina Yeo and freshman Sara Beck were victorious at third doubles 8-1.

Up 3-0 going into singles play, Yeo quickly disposed her opponet at second singles 6-0, 6-0, while Joseph won her first singles match 6-2, 6-4.  The Hawks swept the rest of singles, giving them a perfect 9-0 win.

The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, October 10th when they take on the Beavers of CCNY.
