NEW YORK, NY – This past weekend the women's basketball team hosted the Hunter College Tip-Off Tournament. Stevens Tech, Old Westbury, and Bay Path College all traveled to the Hunter Sportsplex to compete. The Hawks dropped their first game to Bay Path 58-68, and fell in their second game to Old Westbury 52-73. After the weekend, the Hawks record moves to 0-2, 0-0 CUNYAC.
BAY PATH, 68- HUNTER, 58
It was a back and forth battle between the two teams in the first half, and the Wildcats never led by more than 10 points. In the second half, the Hawks didn't lead until the 15
th minute when Dimitrra Thomopoulos made a layup followed by Kristen Sells hitting a three pointer to give Hunter a four point advantage. After missed shots by Hunter, Bay Path was able to run away with the game in the last two minutes, giving them the win.
The Hawks were led by sophomore
Carolyn Kweon who netted a team-high of 19 points and went 8-16 on the floor. Junior guard Kristen Sells tallied 14 points while sophomore Dimitra Thomopoulos led the team in rebounds with four offensive and eight defensive.
The Hawks went on to play the Panthers of Old Westbury in the consolation game.
OLD WESTBURY, 73- HUNTER, 52
The Panthers started out strong with a commanding 37-25 lead at half time after the Hawks had many missed opportunities. The second half deemed no better for Hunter as Old Westbury took control of the game leading by 20 points with 11 minutes left in regulation, giving them third place in the tournament.
The Hawks were led once again by Kweon who had 19 points and had four offensive rebounds and five defensive. Sells added 15 points and three steels while both Martha Banach and
Erika DeJesus tallied seven points and three steals.
Kweon was named to the All-Tournament team.
Stevens Tech dominated Bay Path College 83-39 in the finals to get the title.

The Hawks are back on the court on Tuesday, November 20
th when they host the Lighting of Lehman College in their first CUNY match-up. The game is slated for a 6pm start.
