NEWARK, NJ- On Tuesday, September 25th, the women's tennis team travelled to Newark to take on the Scarlet-Raiders of Rutgers-Newark. After dropping all three doubles, the Hawks bounced back to take 5 out the 6 singles to win 5-4. With the win, the women improve to 3-2 while the Scarlet Raiders drop to 3-6.
The Scarlet-Raiders dominated in doubles play, winning third doubles with relative ease by a score of 8-0. Junior

Gina Yeo put up a valiant effort at first doubles, but eventually fell 8-6. Second doubles proved no better for the Hawks as Rutgers-Newark won 8-4.
Going into singles play, the women knew they needed step it up. CUNYAC/HSS Player of the weekend Joseph outlasted her opponent in first singles, winning 6-3, 6-1 to give the Hawks their first win of the day. Yeo won her second singles match 6-0, 6-3 while freshmen
Angelina Usherenko and
Sara Beck won their fifth and sixth singles matches to make it 4-3, as the Scarlet Raiders took fourth singles. The deciding match came at third singles, where sophomore
Caroline Kaleda was outstanding in defeating her opponet 6-0, 6-4 to win the match for her team.
The Hawks are back on the court on Friday, September 25th when the travel uptown to take on the Beavers of CCNY.
