Women's Basketball Dropped by Brooklyn, 63-45

Late surge in second half lifts Brooklyn past Hawks

NEW YORK, NY - The women's basketball team played host to the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College last night in a CUNYAC match-up.  After a strong showing from the Hawks in the first half, the Bulldogs outscored them in the second half 30-16, giving them the victory.  The women now drop to 4-10, 4-3 CUNYAC while Brooklyn improves to 10-5, 5-2.

The Hawks had their biggest lead of the night with 13 minutes left in the first half, up 14-6.  The Bulldogs rebounded back by tying the game at 19-19 with six minutes left in the half, and would later take four point lead at intermission.

The Bulldogs went on a 20-0 run to start the second half, with the Hawks scoring their first point of the half with 10 minutes left in regulation from two good free throws from Dimitra Krissi Thomopolous. 

Junior Nicole Lenard led the Hawks with a game-high of 15 points, most of them coming from the free throw line as she went 9-15.  Sophomore Dimitra Krissi Thomopolous netted 14 points with three steals, going 4-8 from the floor.  Junior Kristen Sells added eight points while freshman Ayanna Hudson had eight points and eight rebounds.

The Hawks are back in action on Monday, January 21st when they play away at Mount Saint Vincent College.
