Staten Island, NY – The women's basketball team traveled to the CSI Sportsplex to take on the Dolphins this past Saturday in a CUNYAC match-up. Despite a game-high of 24 points from Junior
Nicole Lenard, the Hawks fell 57-68. With the loss, the Hawks drop to 4-11, 4-4 CUNYAC while the Dolphins improve to 9-8, 6-2 CUNYAC.
The first half was low scoring on both ends, until a 9-0 run from the Dolphins to kick off the game. CSI was then able to take a comfortable 30-18 lead at half time.
The Dolphins wasted no time in the second half improving their lead to 15 with back-to-back three pointers. The Hawks answered right back, going on an outstanding 19-0 run ending with a Lenard free throw to tie the score 44-44 and then a layup by Erika Dejesus. The next few minutes was a back and forth affair until a Dolphins 9-0 in the final 23 seconds of play.
Lenard led all scorers with 24 points and eight rebounds while sophomore Dimitra Krissi Thompolous chilled in with 10 points and two rebounds. Both freshman
Carolyn Kweon and
Ayanna Hudson added seven points with Hudson adding eight rebounds.
The Hawks are back in action on Monday, January 21
st when they travel away to Mt. St. Vincent.
