Women's Basketball Dropped By NYU, 56-43

Hawks fall victim to late Violets rally

NEW YORK, NY – On Tuesday, January 8th the women's basketball team fell victim to a late rally by the Violets of NYU, dropping a 56-43 decision in a non-conference game.  With the loss, the women fall to 3-9 while the Violets improve to 7-5.

Up by six at half time, the women were shooting at 41.7% at the buzzer compared the NYU's 34.8%.  Unfortunately the Hawks were outscored 35-16 in the second half, allowing NYU to walk away with the victory. 

Hunter was led by junior standout Nicole Lenard, who had a game-high of 18 points, four rebounds, and five steals.  Junior Kristen Sells netted eight points, going 3-8 on the floor.  The Hawks were plagued by turnovers having 28 compared to NYU's 23. 

The Violets were led by Megan Dawe who scored 17 points and eight rebounds, while teammate Riley Wurtz had 13 points and five rebounds.

The Hawks are back in action on Friday, January 11th when they compete against the Cardinals of York College.  Tip-off is set for a 6pm start.
