RESULTS

Jamaica, N.Y. - The women's tennis team defeated the Cardinals of York College in a clean sweep, 9-0 on Saturday, October 5th.  With the win, the Hawks improve to 3-4, 3-2 CUNYAC while the Cardinals drop to 1-9, 0-4 CUNYAC.

The tandem team of Jane Selegean and Janani Bavanandan had a tight match at first doubles against York's Tenzin Kunchok and Maleeka Chin.  Tied at 8-8, they went into a tiebreak were the Hawks dominated, taking the match 9-8 (7-2).  At second doubles, the team of Abigail Rojas and Stephanie Ahwireng easily disposed of Joanne Ly and Geneva Faulk.  The Hawks had a walkover at third doubles.

During singles actiong, Selegean took down Chin 6-1, 6-0 in the first slot.  Ahwireng defeaed Kunchok 6-3, 6-0 at second singles where Bavanandan took third singles 6-4, 6-0.  Rojas was victorious at 4th singles, beating out Faulk 6-1, 6-0.  Sarah Beck and Nastassia Chittumuri both won their fifth and sixth singles match 6-0, 6-0, respectively.

The Hawks are back in action on Tuesday, October 8th when they play CUNYAC rivals Baruch College.
