RESULTS
New York, N.Y - The Hunter women's tennis team lost a heartbreaking match to the Bearcats of Baruch on October 8th at the USTA National Tennis Center. With the loss, the Hawks drop to 3-5, 3-3 CUNYAC while the Bearcats improve to 6-5, 4-2 CUNYAC.
Despite a 2-1 lead after doubles play, the Bearcats were able to take four out of the six single matches. In doubles, the team of
Stephanie Ahwireng and
Angelina Usherenko lost 8-0 to Baruchs Allie Jackson-Hing and A. Le Goupil-Maier. The Hawk team of CUNYAC Rookie of the Week
Janani Bavanandan and
Sara Beck defeated Jessica Duleba and Diana Federkova 8-4. The duo of Abigial Rohas and
Tetyana Gavrylenko also defeated Anna Komar and Lisa Kurner 8-2.
Baruch went on to win first, second, fifth and sixth singles. Bavanandan defeated Komar 6-1, 6-4 and Rojas defeated Kurner 6-4, 6-1.
The Hawks are back on the court on October 11th when they play host to CUNYAC rivals John Jay.
