Purchase, N.Y – The women's basketball team had a late surge in the second half against the Valiants of Manhattanville, but it wasn't enough to overcome them as the Valiants took the victory, 66-44. With the loss, the Hawks drop to 2-5 while the Valiants improve to 1-4.
The Hawks were led by senior captain
Nicole Lenard who had a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. She was followed by
Kristin Sells who netted seven points while
Dimitra Krissi Thomopoulos scored six points and grabbed five rebounds.
The Valiants took an early lead, going on an 11-0 run in the first six minutes of play. The first half deemed not much better for the Hawks as they went into the locker room down 39-18.
Hunter was able to rebound in the second half, outscoring Manhattanville 26-25 but the damage had already been done as they Hawks couldn't close the gap from the first half.
The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, December 4
th when they play the Lightning of Lehman College.
