New York, NY – The women's basketball team defeated the Beavers of CCNY this past Saturday night to extend their winning streak to four. With the win, the Hawks improve to 9-12, 8-5 CUNYAC while the Beavers drop to 4-17, 4-9 CUNYAC.
Hunter was led by
Dimitra Krissi Thomopoulos who scored a game-high of 18 points and six rebounds.
Nicole Lenard was right behind her with 12 rebounds and four boards. Freshman
Ayanna Hudson had an outstanding game, having a double-double of 12 points and a game-high of 23 rebounds. The Beavers were led by Bria Fisher and Syreeta Williams who both scored 15 points.
The Hawks started off strong early in the first half, going up by 11 points at 11:52 after a good jumper by
Melinda Seide. The Beavers continued to try and close the gap, but the Hawks were able to stave them off, going up 32-23 at half time.
The second half proved even better for the Hawks, as they had a comfortable lead by 14 points at 5:55 after a good layup by Hudson. The Beavers again desperately tried to close the gap, but Hunter deemed too strong as they took the game 67-58.
The Hawks are back in action on February 4
th when they host NYU-Poly. The game is slated for a 6:00pm start.
