Hawks Soccer Fall 2-1 to Kean

Hillside, NJ – Hunter's Joseph Gallardo Alzate tied the match with a goal in the 20th minute, but Kean University regained the lead in the 78th minute and held on for a 2-1 victory on Wednesday, September 11th.

Hunter battled Kean despite being outshot 38-3 in the contest. The Hawks fought off the attack until the 14th minute when Dominick DeLello scored an unassisted goal giving the Cougars the early lead.

Hunter responded in the 20th minute scoring off a counterattack. Michael Taft brought the ball deep down the right side and crossed to Joseph Gallardo Alzate down the middle for the equalizer. The Hawks kept the Cougars under control with solid defense anchored by goalie Emmanuel Aprilakis.

Emmanuel Aprilakis recorded 11 saves leading the Hunter defense. Kean fired 14 shots on goal including the game-winner in the 78th minute. Kean's DeLello netted his second unassisted goal that put the Hawks away 2-1.

Michael Taft had an assist and Joseph Gallardo Alzate attempted three shots and recorded his first goal of the season for the Hawks. Gallardo Alzate had two shot attempts and Diego Cisneros had the other attack.
