RESULTS
Flushing, NY - Hunter College's women's tennis team dropped a hard fought match against the Rams of Farmingdale State College by a score of 5-4, on Wednesday, September 18 at the USTA National Tennis Center.
The Hawks picked up an early lead winning the 1
st doubles match over the Rams.
Jane Selegean and
Shena Joseph teamed up for a dominating 8-1 victory over the Rams.
Farmingdale State then won the next two doubles matches to reclaim the lead heading into singles play. Hunter's duo of
Angelina Usherenko and
Sara Beck competed at 2
nd doubles and fell 9-8 (7-5), while
Beth Chapnick and Nastassia Chittumuri battled at 3
rd doubles but were downed 8-2.
Heading into singles play, the Hawks trailed the Rams 2-1. Hunter split with Farmingdale State winning three out of the six singles competitions.
Jane Selegean won 6-0, 6-4 at 1
st singles,
Shena Joseph won 6-1, 6-2 at 2
nd singles, and Nastassia Chittumuri won 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 at 6
th singles.
The Rams defeated
Stephanie Ahwireng 6-7, 6-1, 6-3 at 3
rd singles,
Angelina Usherenko at 4
th singles (6-0, 6-4), and
Sara Beck at 5
th singles (6-1, 6-1) picking up a road win.

Hunter (0-2) will return to the courts on September 21
