Hunter's George Orsaris Nets Goal Against NYU

Riverdale, NY – The Hunter College men's soccer team fell to NYU, 3-1 on Wednesday, September 18 at Gaelic Park. George Orsaris scored his first goal of the season in the second half against the Violets.
 
The Hawks and Violets were scoreless through the first half of play. NYU outshot Hunter 9-2 and added 5 corner kicks in the first 45 minutes of play. Hunter's goalie Emmanuel Aprilakis saved four shot attempts in the opening half, while Abdullah Mayan and Joseph Gallardo Alzate led the Hunter offense as each recorded a shot attempt.
 
NYU opened the second period with a goal in the 47th minute. The Violets expanded their lead by scoring another goal in the 57th minute, then capped the victory with their final goal in the 76th minute.   
 
Trailing the Violets 3-0, Hunter was awarded a penalty kick in the 86th minute and George Orsaris netted his first goal of the season. The Hawks cut into the Violets lead but fell short 3-1.
 
Defensively, Emmanuel Aprilakis finished with seven saves for the Hawks. NYU outshot Hunter 25-6 and had 10 shots on target. Hunter improved offensively with a season-high four shots on goal against NYU.
 
Hunter (0-8-0) return to the field on Saturday, September 21, to begin their CUNYAC portion of the schedule with a home match against Lehman College on Randall's Island. For more information on the Hawks, please visit www.huntercollegeathletics.com.
