New York, N.Y - The Hunter Hawks women's basketball team defeated the York Cardinals 76-39 on Friday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.

The Hawks (6-8, 3-3) snapped their two game losing streak thanks in large part to senior Kristen Markoe who scored 19 points and grabbed 19 rebounds. This was the 11^th consecutive game Markoe scored in double figures and her fifth double-double on the season. She also had seven steals.

Nicole Lenard tallied 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for the Hawks. Joey Chan had 11 points and Kristin Sells had 10.

The Cardinals (1-10, 0-5) were led by Angelika Ruggiano's eight points. Shaunica McClendon had seven points and eight rebounds.

Along with a balanced scoring attack, the Hawks defense was stellar throughout the game, holding the Cardinals to 20.9% shooting from the field and forced 32 turnovers.

The Hawks return to action on Monday, January 13^th when they host non-league opponent Ramapo College. Tip-off is 5pm.
