Hawks Snap Losing Streak, Defeat Bearcats 70-67

New York, N.Y - The Hunter Hawks women's basketball team defeated CUNY rival Baruch College 70-67, snapping a three game losing streak.

The Hawks (7-11, 4-5 CUNYAC) were led by a balanced scoring attack, getting double-digit scoring from 4-of-5 starters. Nicole Lenard and Kristen Markoe each scored 20 points. Markoe scored 16 of her 20 in the 1st half and Lenard scored 16 of her 20 points in the 2nd half. Krissi Thomopoulos notched her 2nd consecutive double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Kristin Sells chipped in with 11 points.

The Bearcats (11-6, 7-2) were led by Sheridan Taylor's 20 point, 11 rebound performance. Iyana Abrams chipped in with 10 points and Alicea Ulmer grabbed 10 rebounds. The Bearcats led by 14 with 6:32 remaining in the 1st half but the Hawks closed on a 19-5 run to close to within five points at halftime. The Hawks tied the game three times in the final minute by making 5-of-6 free throws to seal the victory.

The Hawks return to action Friday night at 5pm when CUNYAC rival Lehman College travel to Manhattan to take on the Hawks.
