New York, N.Y. - The Hunter Hawks women's basketball team won their 2
nd game in a row by defeating Lehman College 73-60 on a historic
Friday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.
With her 1
st basket nearly 5 minutes into the game, junior
Kristen Markoe joined the 1,000 point club and was honored with a commutative game ball. Markoe finished the game with 19 points and a game-high 17 rebounds, her 8
th of the season.
Nicole Lenard led the Hawks with a game-high 22 points and Krissi Thomopoulos notched her 3
rd straight double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
The Hawks (8-11, 5-5 CUNYAC) led 34-31 at halftime but the Lightning came out on fire in the 2
nd half going on a 22-4 run to pull ahead 53-38 with
14:00 left in the game. From that point forward the Hawks stepped it up offensively and defensively outscoring the Lightning 35-7 in the final 14 minutes of play.
The Lightning (12-7, 6-4) was Shalaya Nieves's 13 points. Amely Del Rosario and Jennifer Navarro each had 12 points.
The Hawks return to action Wednesday January 29
th when they travel to John Jay to take on the Bloodhounds. Game-time is
5pm.
