BOX SCORE NEW YORK, NY – The Hunter men's soccer team earned its first victory of the season with a 2-1 win over Brooklyn College on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks now sit at 1-10 on the season and most importantly 1-2 in CUNYAC play.
The Hawks got on the board in the 2' thanks to
Brandon Fiscina netting his 7
th goal on the season. Fiscina was set up by the play of Malik Agringna who sent the ball forward to
Aristofanis Ioannidis. Ioannidis slipped the ball through the Brooklyn back line and found Fiscnia who buried the shot.
The Hawks scored just over 15' later when
Fausto Perez's drove a free kick to the far post where Bryan Suetegaray headed it home to make it 2-0 Hawks.
"Today we earned this victory," head coach
John Sanchez said to his team after the win. "After progressing in each of our games, getting better and better, we finally put together a complete game."
The 2
nd half Brooklyn had some chances to score but the Hawks backline, led by
Michael Zebzda,
Wilson Aldas and keeper
Zachary Metz, were able to keep the Bulldogs at bay. Metz, making his first career start for the Hawks made eight saves.
The Bulldogs were able to get one back in the 86' thanks to Andres Pertuz.
The Hawks return to action Saturday with another CUNYAC game against Lehman College. The game is scheduled to start at 11 am.
