Two Late Goals Give Hawks Comeback Win Over Medgar Evers

BROOKLYN, NY – The Hunter men's soccer team scored two goals in the final two minutes to earn a 3-2 comeback win Friday night against Medgar Evers. With the win the Hawks improve to 2-3 in CUNYAC play with three conference games remaining on the schedule.

The Hawks opened up the scoring in the first minute of the game when Brandon Fiscina buried his 8th goal of the season. He buried a free kick past the Cougars keeper to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.

The Cougars would answer back and equalize just over five minutes later on a goal by Osondu Esonwune. Zeakiel Daley would score in the 28' to give the Cougars a 2-1 lead.

Throughout the second half, the Hawks were by far the more aggressive team controlling possession and dominating the run of play. The Hawks took 13 shots in the half, forcing the Cougars keeper into making eight saves. For the game the Hawks took a season high 23 shots.

With the game nearing its conclusion, Rafael Montoya sent a cross from the right wing that found Bryan Suertegaray who put it past the Cougar keeper to equalize at 2. Just under a minute later with 33 seconds left, Suertegary found a streaking Fiscina down the center of the field and Fiscina put it away to give the Hawks a 3-2 win.

The Hawks return to action Wednesday when they travel to Lehman to take on the Lightning at 5pm.
