BOX SCORE MASPETH, NY – The Hunter men's soccer team took on rival Baruch College on Saturday afternoon in a key CUNYAC matchup. The Bearcats defeated the Hawks 1-0, dropping the Hawks to 3-4 in CUNYAC play.
The Hawks battled the Bearcats in the first half with strong defensive play. Goalkeeper
Zachary Metz made three of his five saves in the first half. With the Hawks packing it in the offensive attack was limited putting only one shot on goal in the half.
The second half began much the way the first half did with the Hawks playing a very defensive minded game.
The Bearcats would score in the 67' on a cross into the box by Edward Humphreys, which found Robert Aronov's foot to give Baruch a 1-0 lead.
After conceding the goal the Hawks began to press forward with eight of the teams nine second half shots coming with the score 1-0. The Hawks controlled possession for much of the last 10 minutes of the game and testing keeper Helder Correia into making three saves.
The Hawks close out regular season play Thursday when they travel to Staten Island to take on CUNYAC foe College of Staten Island. Game time is scheduled for 4pm.
