BOX SCORE NEW YORK, NY – The Hunter men's soccer team defeated John Jay College, in the quarterfinals of the CUNYAC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Randall's Island Field 83. The Hawks move on to the Semifinals to take on Brooklyn College on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams went goal-less in the first half but the Hawks were by far the most aggressive team. They controlled possession and were aggressive on the attack taking 11 shots, forcing the Bloodhounds keeper into making seven saves.
The Hawks scored in the 49' on
Diego Cisneros's first goal of the season. Cisneros took a pass from
Fausto Perez and buried the shot from just outside the penalty area to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Three minutes later, in the 52', Cisneros would score again when he took a pass from
Aristofanis Ioannidis and shot again from outside the penalty area beating the keeper to make it 2-0 Hawks.
Playing with a 2-0 lead, the Hawks intensified the defensive pressure as the Bloodhounds began to push forward with numbers. They would get one back when Graysen Carlson dribbled into the penalty area and his shot beat the Hawks defense.
Zachary Metz had an outstanding game in net making 11 saves, eight of them coming in the second half.
The Hawks CUNYAC Semifinals game will be played at Brooklyn College on Saturday November 1 at 4:30pm.
