BOX SCORE GALLOWAY, NJ – The Hunter women's basketball team opened up their 2014-15 campaign on Saturday afternoon at the Richard Stockton Tip-Off Tournament losing to FDU Florham, 104-61.
"We knew we would have a tough matchup today," said head coach
John Garrett. "Playing the defending national champions was a great learning expereince for the team to see that speed and athleticism."
The Hawks were led by senior
Kristen Markoe's double-double, Markoe tallied 15 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, and she also dished out seven assists. Fellow senior
Joey Chan also had an efficient game on the offensive end, shooting 6-of-9 from the field for 14 points.
"Kristen really battled against FDU's tough defense," said coach Garrett.
As a team the Hawks shot nearly 47% from the field but the Devils pressure forced the Hawks into 32 turnovers.
The Devils were led by five players who all scored in double figures. Danielle Leguillou led all scorers with 18 points.
