BOX SCORE GALLOWAY, NJ - The Hunter women's basketball team came away with a 53-52 victory against Morrisville State College Sunday afternoon.
Joey Chan hit the game-winning shot with .7 seconds remaining to give the Hawks their first victory of the season.
"Joey made a great shot to win the game," said head coach
John Garrett. "It was a broken play and this is the type of effort we need from our seniors all year."
Kristen Markoe led all scorers with 29 points and 11 rebounds in an efficent 11-for-20 shooting percentage from the field.
Ayanna Hudson had nine points and 11 rebounds for the Hawks.
"This was a hard fought team win and I'm really proud of the team for bounching back so quickly after yesterday's loss," said coach Garrett. "Our defense was aggressive all game and we frustrated their playmakers, it was the key to our win today."
Markoe was named to the All-Tournament Team for her performance over the weekend talling 44 points and 27 rebounds in the Hawks two games.
The Hawks return to action Tuesday night when they travel to take on Mt. Saint Mary's College at 7pm.
