Women's Basketball Overpowers MEC

New York, N.Y - The Hunter Hawks women's basketball team overpowered Medgar Evers College 75-43 on Friday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.

On a night where the senior's on the team were honored, the Hawks were led by their two star seniors, Kristen Markoe and Nicole Lenard. Markoe led the Hawks with 21 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, her 10th double-double of the season. Lenard chipped in with 11 points and Racquel Baudanza scored 10.

The Hawks (12-12, 9-6 CUNYAC) controlled the game from very early on taking a 10 point lead with just six minutes gone by in the 1st half. 

The Hawks built their lead all the way up to 38 in the 2nd half.  The Hawks forced 22 Cougars turnovers and scored 23 points of those turnovers.

The Cougars (2-21, 0-15) were led by NIa Tompkins who scored a game-high 25 points. She also had six steals.

The Hawks return to action Tuesday February 18th when they travel to Queens to take on York College in the final regular season game of the year. Tip-off is 6pm.
