Women's Basketball Defeats Lehman to Advance to CUNYAC Semis

New York, N.Y. – The #4 seed women's basketball team defeated the #5 seed Lehman College Lightning on Sunday afternoon, 84-59, to advance to CUNYAC semi-finals for the 3rd straight season.

With 3 minutes gone by in the 1st half the Hawks took a 1 point lead and never trailed again. The Hawks had a commanding 48-30 halftime lead thanks to great defense and great offense. In the 1st half they shot 19-for-32 (59.4%) from the field and forced 13 Lightning turnovers.Ayanna Hudson had 14 of her 21 points in the 1st half on 7-of-8 shooting.

Dimitra Krissi Thomopoulos led the way for the Hawks scoring a career-high 24 points, while grabbing 14 rebounds. It was her 5th double-double of the season. Thomopoulos was named CUNYAC player of the game for her performance.

2014 CUNYAC 1st Team All-Star Nicole Lenard scored 14 points.

Amely Del Rosario led the Lightning with 17 points. Shalaya Nieves scored 10 points while grabbing a game-high 19 rebounds.

The Hawks advance to the CUNYAC semi-finals where they will take on the CSI Dolphins.
