RESULTSFARMINGDALE, NY - The Hunter Women's Tennis team took on Farmingdale State on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup with the Rams coming away with a 9-0 victory over the Hawks.
In doubles play the Hawks #1 pair of
Janani Bavanandan &
Sara Beck were defeated by their counterparts 8-2. #2 pair
Abigail Rojas &
Paulina Szegda were swept 8-0 while #3 pair
Pauline McGlone &
Linda Gebre Yohannes lost 8-1.
The Hawks didn't fair much better in singles play with Bavanandan and Gebre Yohannes losing 6-0, 6-0. Szegda lost her match 6-1, 6-0, Beck lost her match 6-3, 6-1 and McGlone lost 6-2, 6-2. Rojas fought hard in the first set of her match but eventually fell 7-6, 6-2.
"We played some solid points and kept it close in each game," said head coach
Erienne Gale. "We just need to close out those games when the opportunity strikes."
The Hawks now sit at 0-2 on the young season. They return to action Wednesday September 17 when they travel to New Jersey to take on Rutgers-Camden at 3:30pm.
