Hawks Sweep John Jay

NEW YORK, NY – The Hunter women's volleyball team returned to action Tuesday night in a CUNYAC matchup against John Jay College. The Hawks swept the Bloodhounds 3-0 to improve to 6-7 overall and 3-0 in CUNYAC play.

The Hawks took control of the match early with a convincing 25-8 1st set win. They won the 2nd set 25-13 and took the final set 25-20 to complete the sweep.

CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Julia Connolly once again led the Hawks at the net smacking a game-high 10 kills. Connolly also pitched in with five service aces with a .529 hitting percentage. Karolina Gajda also contributed to the strong net play with eight kills.

"We were able to play our game by taking the lead early on," said head coach Val Lang. "John Jay served well but our offense was running fast and consistent, it was a great team effort on our part."

Kristine Ciurcina and Taylor Kordich were excellent setting up their teammates. Ciurcina had a game-high 18 assists while Kordich pitched in with 11 assists.

The Hawks return to action on Thursday night with another CUNYAC matchup against Brooklyn College at 6pm.
