BOX SCORE NEW YORK, NY – The Hunter women's basketball team lost 64-48 to Baruch College on Friday night in a CUNYAC matchup. The loss drops the Hawks to 6-13 overall and 3-7 in CUNYAC play.
The Hawks struggled on the offensive end in the first half as they only shot 24% from the field. Their defense was strong, as they held the Bearcats to just 29% shooting through the first 20 minutes.
"I think we had a great effort tonight on defense," said head coach
John Garrett. "After a tough first half offensively, we found some rhythm in the second half."
The Hawks went into halftime trailing 29-17.
In the second half, both team shot better with the Hawks more than doubling their first half scoring output. However the 12 point halftime lead would be too large to overcome in the second half.
Leading the Hawks was
Kristen Markoe who scored 18 points.
Kerrin Sells would score nine points.
"I'm proud of the effort we put out tonight," said Garrett. "We are looking forward to resting up and coming back at it on Wednesday to give another great effort."
The Hawks return to action on Wednesday January 28 when they will take on CCNY. Tip-off is scheduled for 5pm.
