BOX SCORE NEW YORK, NY - The Hunter women's basketball team defeated John Jay 58-50 on Friday night, improving their record to 8-13 overall and 5-7 in CUNYAC play. 

The Hawks never trailed the entire game thanks to a phenomenal start on the offensive and defensive end. With just over 10 minutes remaining in the first half, the Hawks had amassed a 20-7 lead. 

The Hawks had an assist on 10 of their 13 first half field goals, en route to shooting 43% from the field in the first 20 minutes. 

In the second half the Hawks were able to maintain their lead but not before the Bloodhounds would come to within 5 points with just over 10 minutes remaining in the game.

Ayanna Hudson, Joey Chan and Kristen Markoe all responded with baskets for a 6-0 spurt making it 52-40 with 7:55 remaining.

Chan would hit a layup with :33 seconds remaining to clinch the Hawks second consecutvie victory.

Markoe tallied her 13th double double of the season with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Hudson got her fourth double double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Chan scored 11 points.

The Hawks return to action Tuesday February 3 when they will take on Medgar Evers. Tip-off is scheduled for 6pm.
