New York, NY - Hunter College women's basketball fell to City College of New York on Wednesday with a score of 58-34 at the Hunter Sportsplex. The Hawks are now 6-13 overall and 3-8 in conference play.
Ayanna Hudson led the team with eight points and 11 rebounds, while
Ashley Arias pulled down 11 rebounds of her own. The Hawks shot just 18.2 percent from the floor, while the Beavers recorded a 32.3 shooting percentage.Â
The score remained close in the first quarter until the Beavers began to pull away at the end, going on a 12-0 to make the score 19-7 at the end of the first. The Hawks found points from Arias and
Ashley Yu in the second but the team was unable to slow down CCNY as the Beavers led, 28-11 at halftime.
Hudson came to life in the third, scoring six points and helping the Hawks cut their deficit to just 14 points, but the Beavers started the fourth quarter with a 7-2 run to regain a comfortable lead and close out the game with a final score of 58-34.
Hunter returns to action on Friday, Jan. 29 when they travel to John Jay College for a 6 p.m. game.
