Men's Soccer Advances to the CUNYAC Finals With Win Over Baruch

Hawks Defeat Bearcats 2-1

BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College men's soccer will advance to the CUNYAC Championship final after defeating Baruch College in the semifinals on Saturday with a score of 2-1.

The #2 seed Hawks got the win over the #6 seed Bearcats to advance to the finals for the first time since 2010.

The game immediately started with a bang as Hunter scored a goal just 41 seconds into play. Jesus Patino Muniz crossed the ball from the left side of the field to Aristofanis Iaonnidis who found the back of the net to give the Hawks the 1-0 lead.

The Purple and Gold couldn't celebrate for long as the Bearcats answered with a goal of their own just one minute later.

The game-winning goal would happen in the first half as Itamar Pereira and Jacob Gorodetsky performed a give-and-go, allowing Pereira to connect for the second goal of the game at the 29 minute mark.

Neither team would score in the second half as the Hawks held off the Bearcats to get the 2-1 win.

Hunter will face #1 seed Lehman next Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in the CUNYAC finals.
