BOX SCORE Brooklyn, NY - Hunter College men's soccer fell in the 2016 CUNYAC Championship title match on Saturday evening, falling 2-1 to Lehman College.
The #1 seeded Lightning controlled the first half by scoring off a deflection in the 22nd minute of the game. Despite the goal, the #2 Hawks out shot Lehman 13-5 in the first half.
The Purple and Gold continued to find good shots in the second half but struggled to get the ball past the Lightning goalkeeper as Lehman struck again, just two minutes into the half to lead 2-0.
Things did not look good for the Hawks until
Jesus Patino Muniz shot a rocket from 35 yards out that sailed past the Lehman defenders to put Hunter on the score board with seven minutes to play. Unfortunately there would not be enough time as the Hawks fell 2-1 in their first CUNYAC finals since 2010.
The Hawks outshot the Lightning 28 to eight as Muniz led the team with six shots.
Bryan Suertegaray followed with five.
