New York, NY - Hunter College women's basketball is set to host Rutgers-Camden on Friday at 1 p.m. after taking a 17-day hiatus due to exams and winter break.

The Hawks will start the second half of the 2016-17 season on Friday after beginning with a 7-3 overall record. The Purple and Gold are 3-1 in conference play to rank fourth in the CUNYAC standings behind Staten Island, Brooklyn and Baruch.

Jade Aponte and Theresa Leung have paced the Hawks so far this season as Aponte is averaging 12.1 points per game and Leung follows with 10.4. Both players, along with Selina Lim (9.4) rank in the top-20 in the conference in scoring.

Freshman guard Leung has been a force to be reckoned with as the point guard has made more field goals than any other player on the team, while posting a team-leading averaging of 4.1 assists per game for fourth in the CUNYAC.

Sophomore Ashley Arias has stepped up recently, posting three-straight double-doubles over the month of December. Arias is fifth in the league in rebounding with an average of 9.3 boards per game.

Sophomore forward Christine Patterson has chipped in on defense, ranking fifth in the conference in steals (3.0) and sixth in blocked shots (1.2) per game.

The Hawks have had sucess as a team on defense during the first half of the year, holding opponents to just 59.3 points per game for a second-best conference mark. The squad also ranks second in three-point field goal percentage with a percentage of 34.1.

Rutgers-Camden travels to New York City with a 7-3 overall record, falling in two of their last three games. This is the first meeting on record between the two teams.

After facing the Raptors, the team will travel to Mount Saint Vincent on January 3 before continuing conference play on January 6 against York College.
