Women's Volleyball Blasts Bearcats, 3-0

Kerr-Haiduk Dominates Offensively

New York, NY - Hunter College women's volleyball got a victory in dominating fashion on Thursday night over conference foe Baruch College, taking all three sets with scores of 25-23, 25-14 and 25-13.

The Purple and Gold are now 8-7 overall and remain unbeaten in CUNYAC play with a mark of 4-0.

The first set did not start as planned for the Hawks as they fell behind 3-0. Hunter managed to tie the set and then pull ahead to make the score 10-7 off kills from Miranda Hogan and Taylor Kerr-Haiduk, but it would not be for long as Baruch went on a 7-0 run to lead 17-12.

The Hawks regained composure by outscoring Baruch 13-6  in the second half of the set to get the 25-13 edge and start the match 1-0.

The beginning of the second set went back-and-forth, featuring five tied scores until Hunter's Kerr-Haiduk recorded a kill to trigger 10 straight points from the Hawks. The run allowed Hunter to lead 16-6 and they did not let up, eventually taking the second set, 25-14.

The Bearcats struck first in the third set, but the Purple and Gold found kills from Kerr-Haiduk and Samantha Barrett to take the lead. Cristy Pariama tallied a service ace to help the Hawks make the score 7-3 as they went on an 8-1 run to lengthen their lead over Baruch.

With the score 21-13 Hunter closed out the set with four-straight points and earned the winning point off a block assist from Barrett and Breanna Banske to take the third 25-13 and win the match 3-0.

Kerr-Haiduk led the team with 17 kills, while Julia Connolly followed with eight of her own. Banske had 34 assists in the win and Hogan led the team with 13 digs.

The Hawks return to action on Saturday when they host a tri-match at the Hunter Sportsplex with matches at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
