New York, NY - Hunter College women's volleyball fell to Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday in three sets with scores of 25-12, 25-8 and 25-20.
With the loss, the Hawks fell to 2-4 overall and remained 1-0 in CUNYAC play.
In the first set the Purple and Gold fell behind early, dropping to an 11-5 deficit before the Ducks would go on a 7-1 run and score the last three points of the set to win, 25-12 and earn a 1-0 lead in the match.
Stevens did not let up in the second set, jumping out to a 9-0 lead before the Hawks would capitalize on a Stevens error to end the run. From there Hunter would attempt to come back, but it was too late as they fell 25-8.
The Hawks struck first in the third set as
Breanna Banske immediately tallied a service ace for the first point of the set. Both teams stayed within a couple points of each other for the majority of the set until the Ducks slowly began to pull away to make the score 22-15. Hunter went on a 3-0 run with kills from
Taylor Kerr-Haiduk and
Julia Connolly to keep within reach, but Stevens scored three of the last five points to win 25-20 and win the match, 3-0.
Connolly led the team with 10 kills, while Kerr-Haiduk added six in the loss. Banske added 15 assists and Trunkett recorded a team-high eight digs.
The Hawks return to action on Saturday, Nov. 10 when they compete in a CUNYAC Tri-Match tournament.Â
