BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College women's basketball fell to second-place College of Staten Island on Wednesday night with a score of 75-53.
The Hawks drop to 4-3 in the the conference and remain in fifth place in the standings.
The Dolphins started strong, finishing up the opening quarter with a nine-point lead. In the second quarter the Hawks found points from
Ashley Arias,
Christine Patterson and
Theresa Leung to make the score 22-20, but the Dolphins reacted with a 17-2 run to go into halftime with a 44-29 edge.
Hunter struggled to close the lead in the third quarter as the Dolphins led by as much as 23. In the fourth the Hawks continuously forced Staten Island to the free throw line where they converted on 16 shots to close out the game, 75-53.
Arias recorded a double-duble to lead the Purple and Gold with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Leung tallied ten points in the loss as the Purple and Gold recorded a 32.8 field goal percentage on the night.
Hunter returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 14 when they travel to Baruch College for a 12 p.m. game.
