BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College women's basketball ended a four-game losing streak on Friday night by getting a 63-53 victory over John Jay College at the Sportsplex.
The Hawks improve to 5-5 in CUNYAC play this season.
Hunter shot 50.0 percent from the field in the first half, going 13-26 to take a commanding 35-18 lead at the break.
Jade Aponte led the squad with 14 of her eventual 18 points in the first two quarters.
The Hawks started off the third quarter with jumpers from
Christine Patterson and
Selina Lim before Hunter's Theresa Lim hit a three-pointer to give the Hawks a 24-point lead.
Leading 55-33, the Purple and Gold struggled in the fourth quarter, not scoring a point until three minutes left in the game. The scoring drought did not matter thanks to their dominating play for most of the game as the Hawks pulled out the ten-point win.
Aponte scored a team-high 18 points and five steals, while Lim followed with 11 points and eight assists in the game.
Theresa Leung added six points, four assists and six steals and
Widly Couloute came off the bench to record a team-high nine rebounds.
The team returns to action on Monday, Jan. 23 when they travel to Manhattanville College for a 6 p.m. game.
