BOX SCORE Brooklyn, NY - Hunter College women's basketball got their second-straight CUNYAC win on Friday night with a victory over Medgar Evers College, 72-53.
The Hawks are now 10-9 and 6-5 in conference play this season.
Jade Aponte led the Hawks in the first half with 10 points to give them a solid 40-25 lead going into the break. The Purple and Gold outscored the Cougars in the first two quarters with 16 field goals and forced 10 Cougar turnovers.
Christine Patterson opened up the third quarter by scoring seven of Hunter's first nine points to give them a 22-point lead. The Hawks maintained at least a 20-point lead for the rest of the game, going up by as much as 25 with four minutes to play, and eventually getting the 72-53 victory.
The team recorded a 41.9 field goal percentage in the win for their second-best shooting night all season. Aponte finished with a team-high 15 points, followed by Patterson's 12 points.
Phoebe Valenton chipped in ten for her second-best point total of the year, while recording a game-high five steals.Â
The Hawks return to action on Jan. 30 when they travel to Manhattanville College for a make-up game, starting at 6 p.m.
