BOX SCORE Purchase, NY - Hunter College women's basketball fell 69-57 to Manhattanville College on Monday night at Kennedy Gym.
With the loss the Hawks even out to 10-10 this season and continue to be 6-5 in CUNYAC play.
The Purple and Gold trailed the Valiants by three points at halftime despite recording a better field goal percentage in the first two quarters of 39.1. Rebounds would be the difference maker with Manhattanville grabbing 25 to Hunter's 12, including the Valiant's 12 offensive boards to contribute to second chance points.
Jade Aponte led the Hawks in the first with 15 points off five field goals.
Manhattanville began to pull away in the third quarter, making the score 46-29 at the 3:02 minute mark. Aponte hit a three-pointer to kill the Valiant's run, but the Hawks still trailed by 13 going into the fourth.
The Valiants stayed in control in the final quarter, never allowing the Hawks within less than 12 points of them as they took the game 69-57.
Aponte finished with 23 points and
Theresa Leung followed with nine.
Widly Couloute was a force under the basket, recording a team-high 11 rebounds in the loss.
The Hawks return to action tonight when they travel to York College for a 6 p.m. game.
