Women's Tennis Ends Season With Loss to #3 Baruch

Hawks Fall 5-0

Bronx, N.Y. - Hunter College women's tennis wrapped up the 2017 season on Sunday with a 5-0 loss to #3 seeded Baruch College in the City University of New York Athletic Conference quarterfinals.

The Hawks finish the year with an overall record of 2-10 and sixth in the conference standings.

The Hunter team of Kyanna Bertrand and Ksenia Zevyakina put up a fight at No. 2 doubles, eventually falling 8-2, as the Hawks fell behind in doubles competition 3-0.

With the teams playing first to five, the Hawks dropped a singles match by retirement and then Baruch was able to clinch the victory at No. 2 singles, defeating Bertrand with scores of 6-0, 6-0.

"Despite today's disappointment, I think many of the players got great experience that they can use heading into next season," said co-head coach Ed Metzendorf. "We plan to work on some things in the offseason and be ready to go next fall.

"We have a good foundation and it's exciting to work on building a team and creating a winning culture at Hunter."
