New York, N.Y. - Hunter College men's soccer faltered to the College of Staten Island on Wednesday at Randall's Island, getting a loss for the first time in three games with a score of 3-1.
The Hawks are now 2-4 in the conference, while the Dolphins improved to 4-2 in CUNYAC.
The Dolphins scored just two minutes into the game to set the stage as the Hawks spent the rest of the first half attempting to tie it up. The Hawks recorded four shots in the remaining 43 minutes but went into halftime down, 1-0.
The Purple and Gold came out in the second and scored a quick goal as
Jesus Patino Muniz crossed the ball to
Mikey Tzanetatos, who found the net. The goal was Tzanetatos' third of the season as he helped Hunter tie the score, 1-1.
CSI responded 15 minutes later with another goal of their own to take the lead. They finished off the game with one more at the 76:56 minute mark to take it, 3-1.
The Hawks were outshot 18-5, while Hunter goalkeeper
Noah Dougherty finished the loss with eight saves.
Hunter returns to the field on Saturday when they travel to York College for a conference match up.
