Jade Aponte, Hunter College women's basketball fell to The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon with a score of 73-60.
The Hawks start the year 3-1, while the Lions improved to 3-1 in their home opener.
The Purple and Gold began to fall behind in the first quarter, finishing it with an 11-point deficit and a score of 27-16.
Christine Patterson opened up the second with a three, but the Hawks continued to trail, heading into halftime down 36-24.Â
Aponte led the team in the first 20 minutes with 10 points, while
Janine Conway followed with seven.Â
The Lions continued to dominate, stretching the lead to as much as 25 points in the third. In the fourth quarter Hunter managd to finish the game with a 15-5 run, but eventually fell 73-60.
The Hawks shot 27.6 percent from the field while the Lions had the hot hand, recording a 50.0 percent field goal percentage.Â
Aponte finished with 30 points, tallying five three-pointers, while Conway notched 13 points in the loss.
The team returns to action on Nov. 27 when they travel to New Jersey City University.
