Brooklyn, N.Y. - Hunter College women's basketball finished off a dominating victory on Tuesday night against conference opponent Medgar Evers College, defeating the Cougars with a score of 95-25 as 12 players scored points in the win.
The Hawks improved to 6-1 this season and are now 2-0 in CUNYAC play.
Hunter held the Cougars to just ten points in the first half to lead by 39 points at the break. The team recorded a 53.1 field goal percentage with
Jade Aponte scoring in double-digits with 14 points in 14 minutes of play.
Aponte continued to find baskets in the second half, opening up the third quarter with a three-pointer to spark a 21-6 run for the Hawks.Â
The Purple and Gold scored 26 points in the fourth to eventually take the game, 92-25. Hunter forced 29 Medgar Evers turnovers in the win, while committing just 13. The team recorded a 49.3 field goal percentage (33-67).
Aponte led the team in scoring, finishing with a total of 23 points by shooting 6-11 from the floor. She was just one rebound shy of a double-double and tallied a team-high seven steals.
Janine Conway followed with 18 points, making it the fourth-straight game to score in double figures this year.
Ashley Arias had a team-high 11 rebounds in the win.
The squad returns to the court on Friday, Dec. 8 when they host John Jay College at 5 p.m.
