New York, NY - Hunter College men's basketball dropped a conference game to the City College of New York on Friday night, falling behind 74-55.
With the loss the Hawks are now 8-16 and 6-9 in CUNYAC play this season.
The Beavers came out with a hot shooting hand in the first half, immediately going up 7-0. The Hawks managed to even the score, but CCNY continued to make shots in the last ten minutes, leading 47-29 at halftime.
Matt Franks started the second half with four-straight points but the Beavers responded by scoring six-straight of their own, leading by 20 points with 15 minutes to play. The Purple and Gold struggled to get within less than 20 points of the Beavers until five minutes left in regulation when
Lowell Stevens and
Elijah Trotman combined for five-straight points as Hunter trailed 69-53.
Trotman finished off the game with another basket in the paint but it was not enough as the Hawks fell 74-55.
Lukac and Franks each notched 10 points in the loss as the team shot 40 percent from the floor in the game.
The squad returns to action on Monday, Feb. 13 when they host Lehman College at 7 p.m.
