New York, NY - Hunter College women's basketball got a win over conference opponent City College of New York on Friday night with a score of 62-40.
The Hawks improve to 12-12 overall and 8-7 in the CUNYAC with the win.
The Purple and Gold held the Beavers to just an 18.8 field goal percentage in the first two quarters, leading CCNY 27-19 at halftime.
CCNY got the first two points of the third quarter but
Jade Aponte responded for the Hawks by hitting back-to-back three pointers to give Hunter a 12 point lead at the seven minute mark. The shots sparked a 14-2 run for the Hawks, as Aponte and
Widly Couloute combined for the 14 points.
Leading 43-26 to start the fourth quarter, Couloute came out to score Hunter's first four points. Aponte finished it off for the Hawks by hitting three three-pointers in the last five minutes as the Hawks took the game, 62-40.
Aponte led the team with 26 points, hitting six three-pointers in the victory and recording seven rebounds. Couloutte followed with a double-double, scoring 16 points and tallying 15 boards.
The Hawks return to action on Monday, Feb. 13 when they host Lehman College at 5 p.m.
