Hawks Fall By Just Two Points

BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College women's basketball ended the 2016-17 season on Saturday afternoon with a loss to CCNY in the quarterfinals of the CUNYAC Championship tournament.

The Hawks finish off the year with a 12-14 record, going 8-9 in conference play for the most wins for a Hunter team since the 2013-14 season.

The Beavers led for most of the first half as the Hawks played catch up, falling behind by as much as 11 in the second quarter. WIth three minutes to play in the third, Hunter's Theresa Leung hit back-to-back three pointers, just 20 seconds apart, to help Hunter get within three points of CCNY.

The Beavers finished off the first half to lead 33-29.

Widly Couloute started the second half off with an immediate basket to help the Hawks trail by just two points before scoring seven more points in the next four minutes to lead the team. Hunter continued to find points but would not tie the score until 18 seconds left in the third off a steal from Christine Patterson and fastbreak layup from Phoebe Valenton to make the score 50-50.

Patterson then hit a last second shot to give Hunter their first lead of the game going into the fourth quarter.

CCNY opened up the fourth with a three-pointer to take back the lead, making the score 61-52 in the first three minutes.
