Bronx, NY - Hunter College softball defeated Lehman College in a doubleheader on Monday afternoon, getting wins with scores of 15-1 and 15-7.
The victories help the Hawks improved to 9-9 overall and 8-2 in the CUNYAC.
The Purple and Gold started out the day with a win in five innings, recording 12 hits, including two home runs. Caroline BIbula and
Brittney Salvador each homered, while
Stefanie Abolt,
Amanda Fursa, Alisha Doviesak,
Briana Monaco and
Jamie Durso all recorded at least one RBI in the win.
Nicole Guzzone led the team from in the circle, giving up just two hits.
The second game started much closer until the Hawks began to pull away in the third inning off a home run from Monaco. Ten players tallied at least one hit in the victory with
Victoria Slavik leading the way by going 3-3 at bat. Bibula,
Leanna Donahue and
Heather Ostrowski each spent time at pitcher, holding Lehman to nine hits.
The Hawks return to action on Tuesday when they host NYU at 3 p.m. at Randall's Island.
