Men's Soccer Falls in Season Opener to Farmingdale State

Hawks Fall To Penalty Kick

BOX SCORE New York, NY - Hunter College men's soccer dropped its season opener on Friday to Farmingdale State University with a score of 1-0.

The Hawks kept the score tied 0-0 for the majority of the game, but it was not enough as the Rams converted on a penalty kick in the 73rd minute to secure the victory.

The teams played a 0-0 first half despite the Purple and Gold outshooting Farmingdale 5-1. Jesus Patino Muniz and Itamar Pereira each notched a shot, while Hunter goalkeeper Noah Doughtery recorded a save in the first 45 minutes.

The Hawks took the first shot of the second half but the Rams quickly caught up by tallying three more shots of their own. With 17 minutes to play, Farmingdale took a penalty kick and scored to take a 1-0 lead.

Hunter could not tie the game in the remaining minutes and eventually fell, 1-0.

The Hawks will return to action tomorrow when they take on Drew University at 1 p.m.
