Bronx, N.Y. - Hunter College women's volleyball got a win over conference opponent Lehman College on Tuesday evening in three sets with scores of 25-7, 25-17 and 25-5.
The Hawks improved to 10-2 with the victory and remain undefeated in CUNYAC play with a mark of 4-0.
The Purple and Gold immediately went to work in the first set, jumping out to an 8-0 lead due to eight-straight serves and seven service aces from
Miranda Hogan. Hunter continued to dominate as
Taylor Haiduk and
Marlena Budna finished off the 25-7 set with a kill each.
The Lightning stayed with the Hawks much longer in the second set until several Lehman errors allowed the Hawks to pull ahead, 13-9. A seven-point streak, featuring kills from
Daphne Odeh and service aces from
Kayshawna Richardson, would give Hunter the 25-17 win.
Hunter did not slow down in the third, immediately scoring 10-straight points to lead, 10-1. A 13-1 run, sparked by five aces from
Madelle Tabunda, closed out the set for the Hawks as they took it, 25-5 to win the match.
Several Hawks got playing time as Budna led the squad with five kills and a .417 hitting percentage.
Cristy Pariama earned 11 assists in the victory, while
Haley Trunkett and
Denise Biesiadecka led the defense with seven digs each.
The Purple and Gold return to action this weekend when they compete at the Skidmore Tournament on Friday and Saturday.Â
