Brooklyn, N.Y. - Hunter College men's soccer player
Jesus Patino Muniz posted a hat trick to lead the Hawks past Medgar Evers College on Wednesday with a score of 4-0.
The Hawks recorded their first win of the season to improve their overall record to 1-8-1 and 1-3 in CUNYAC play.
Muniz struck in the first ten minutes of the game, notching a goal into the right side of the net to give the Purple and Gold an early 1-0 lead. The Cougars had four shots in response but did not convert, going into halftime down by one.
The Hawks went into the second half aggressive as
Itamar Pereira tallied two immediate shots. In the 63rd minute Muniz took a shot from the middle of the field, finding the back of the net for the Hawk's second goal and making the score 2-0.
Muniz notched his third goal of the game at the 69:29 minute mark, registering on a penalty kick to lengthen the Hunter advantage, 3-0.
With a comfortable lead, Hunter sealed the victory in the last minute of the game as freshman
Mikey Tzanetatos tallied his first career goal to secure the win.
The Hawks totaled 12 shots to the Cougar's 11 and took eight corner kicks in the game, also finding shots from
Michael Merlo,
Esteban Correa,
Daniel Pesantes and
Harrison Krepack. Hunter goalkeeper
Noah Dougherty got the shut out by recording three saves.Â
Hunter returns to the pitch on September 30 when they travel to The City College of New York for a 12 p.m. game.
